Contemporary Art: Watercolor Nudes @ Morgan Lehman New York

(Drivebycuriosity) - Kim McCarty’s seems to be fascinated by watercolor and by nudes. Chelsea`s Morgan Lehman Gallery (534 West 24th Street, New York  ) shows new work by the artist (through December 9, 2017 morganlehman ).

I enjoy the economical use of brush strokes which creates appealing images. The press release explains: "The artist’s process of working wet-into-wet on loose sheets of watercolor paper laid out across the floor forces her to grapple with forms that might disappear or disintegrate at any moment, inviting a perpetual renegotiating and reimagining of her subject through the liquidity of pigment suspended in water".

I display here my favorites from the show, a very subjective selection as usual. On top of this post you can see "Untitled" (2017,Watercolor on paper, 44 1/5 x 88 1/2 in (112.27 x 224.79 cm).

Above "Looking Over Shoulder" (2017, Watercolor on paper,30 x 22 in (76.20 x 55.88 cm) followed by "Dripping Hair" (2017, Watercolor on paper, 75 x 44 1/2 in (190.50 x 113.03 cm).

Above "Untitled Nude" (2017, Watercolor on paper,
80 x 44 in (203.20 x 111.76 cm) & "Male Nude" (2017, Watercolor on paper
77 x 44 1/2 in (195.58 x 113.03 cm).
