Movies: The Iceman

How could a man become a contract killer? One possible answer is shown in the movie "The Iceman" (imdb). The film is based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski. This was a family man, living in New Jersey, who allegedly killed more than 100 people for the Mafia. The film is a fascinating psychological study about a troubled man who cannot control his temper - a lesson about self destruction.

"Iceman" benefits a lot from its excellent cast. Michael Shannon plays a fierce and explosive Kuklinski, quite the opposite of an iceman. His physical intensity, his intimidatory body language and his sometimes menacing glances explain his malevolent career.
Ray Liotta performs an equally convincing vicious Mafia boss.  Chris Evans as a creepy psychotic killer completes the infernal triangle.
Winona Ryder acts a counterpart. She plays the allegedly innocent & naive housewife and mother who enjoys the luxury her husband gives her without any interest where the money really comes from.

The solid cinematography delivered stylish pictures and put the audience on a time trip to New Jersey & New York of the 60s, 70s and 80s of the last century supported by the congenial soundtrack.
