Contemporary Art: Sigmar Polke - Eine Winter Reise @ David Zwirner, New York

(Drivebycuriosity) - Do you know Sigmar Polke? The German artist, who lived from 1941–2010, was one of the most voraciously experimental artists of the 20th century (here my post about the Polke retrospective @ New York´s MoMa  driveby).  David Zwirner ( zwirner ), one of the the world`s top galleries, currently shows paintings by Polke @ 537 West 20th Street New York.

The show is called "Eine Winter Reise/ A Winter Journey" (through June 25, 2016). The title refers to the song cycle "Winterreise" by the romantic German composer Franz Schubert. The show also refers to Polke´s around-the-world journey from 1980 to 1981 that took him to Indonesia (Bali, Java, Sumatra), Papua New Guinea, Australia, Tasmania, Malaysia, and Thailand, among other locales (more here  press-release ).
