Contemporary Art: Paintings From Transylvania @ Richard Taittinger, New York

(Drivebycuriosity) - Contemporary art is global.  Richard Taittinger Gallery, which is founded and owned by a heir of the French Champagne empire Taittinger (at 154 Ludlow St. taittinger), has now a fascinating exhibition, called "The Wanderers: Contemporary Painting From Cluj (through February 19, 2017  wanderers). They show paintings collected from the art scene @ Transylvania`s capital Cluj-Napoca. According to the press release the place has been  a thriving  contemporary art center for Romania and the international art world.

I display here my favorites from the show, a very subjective selection as usual. On top of this post you can see "Guardians of the molecules" by Marius Bercea (2016, Oil, acrylic, and spray on canvas. 74.5 x 93 in. / 160 x 190 cm). Unfortunately the other paintings  aren`t  tagged, so I am displaying them without further information.

I like the painting above because it shows a mystery which reminds me of Neo Rauch`s works (driveby).

Above more fascinating figurative works.

Some paintings have a surrealist charm.

I also liked some of the abstracts.

Enjoy!
