Movies: Philomena

(Drivebycuriosity) - The Roman Catholic Church preaches Christian love and humanity, but very often their representatives behave inhuman.  The movie "Philomenia"
deals with one of those Christian scandals (imdb). In the 1950th Catholic nuns in Ireland gave children for adoption against the will of their juvenile mothers who were forced to live in their clusters. The film is based on the real of story of Philomena, one of these betrayed mothers, who tries to find her lost son with the help of a journalist.

The story is carried by 2 actors: It is fun to watch how Judi Dench personifies the searching mother with a blend of stubbornness and goofiness. Steve Coogan, who also co-wrote the screenplay, perform`s as Philomena `s and spices the film with his analytical style and laconic humor.

"Philomenia" is a sentimental little movie with the right mixture of humor & drama and fits nicely to the Christmas season.
