Culture: A Visit @ Miami`s Institute Of Contemporary Art

(Drivebycuriosity) - Do you like contemporary art? If you come to Miami you should visit the Institute of Contemporary Art (icamiami). The place, located in the city`s design district, opened recently, just in time for Art Basel Miami, a gigantic art spectacle. Admission is free, but advance registration is recommended to avoid the lines.

My wife and I had a lot of fun there. We saw a temporary exhibition called "The Everywhere Studio" (through February 18, 2018) and some pieces of their permanent collection. I display here my favorites, a very subjective selection as usual. The people on top of this post are admiring Miriam Schapiro`s "Time" (1988-91, Acrylic and fabric on canvas).

                                                Illuminated By An Explosion Nearby

I also enjoyed this view. The painting is a creation by the art collective Art & Language with the title "The Studio at 3 Wesley Place Illuminated by an Explosion Nearby (VII)" (1983, Oil on canvas).

Nicole Eisenman belongs to the up-and-coming artists and is celebrated with a lot of gallery shows & museum exhibitions. I reported once about her show in Manhattan´s Chelsea district (driveby ). Above you can see her "Morning Studio" (2016, Oil on canvas).

Roy Liechtenstein belongs to my favorite artists, so I was glad to spot his "Artist`s Studio with Model" (1974, Oil and Magna on canvas).

The self-portrait by the influential German artist Jörg Immendorff belongs also to the gems.

Above you can see "Bad Thoughts No. 2" by Gilbert & George (1975, Mixed media).

                                                Das Blaue Vom Himmel Herunterlügen

Above some works by the French artist Yves Klein who obviously likes the color Blue very much.

Above Avery Singer´s "The Studio Visit" (2012, Acrylic on canvas) followed by Frances Stark`s very fresh "Behold Man (Nancy and Sluggo recto verso pendant pair)" (2017, Ink, spray paint, and gesso on canvas) & the installation "Fuggetabout It" by Joyce Pensato from Brooklyn (2017).

And finally another installation: "Das Blaue vom Himmel herunterlügen (Paradoxial Intentions/To Lie the Blue down from Sky) by the German artist Anna Oppermann.

Maybe someday we will come back.
