The story is somewhat related to the European fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" (the french version). The plot aims - as usual for Disney productions - to entertain kids and is therefore very simple. I watched the film in IMAX 3D - which was a bit underwhelming. The scenery reminded me a little of films like "The Hobbit" with a shot of "The Crow".
Anyway, most time the gorgeous face of Angelina filled the screen - which made the movie worth seeing. But I am not sure, if the clientele, the kids, cared about her. Therefore it will be Disney´s secret why they excelled Angelina Jolie´s beauty to an audience of children. Maybe Maleficent is the young person´s guide to Angelina Jolie.
