Contemporary Art: Solipsist @ Castle Fitzjohns Gallery, New York

(Drivebycuriosity) - Contemporary art has many faces. Some artists focus on abstract works, others prefer figurative paintings. David Donald Sutherland does both. Castle Fitzjohns Gallery in New York´s gentrifying Lower East Side (98 Orchard Street castlefitzjohns) shows an exhibition with works by this artist called: "Solipsist".

I like his nudes who are elegant and stylish and the colorful arrangements. And his art is even for middle class buyers affordable - contrary to a popular view that contemporary art is just for the "one-percent" (driveby). But let the pictures spak for themselves.

On top of this post you can see "The Harvest" (2015, oil on canvas, $7,500), followed by  "As it Comes" (2015, oil on canvas, $10,000)

Above: "Asthetic Aprehensions" (2015, oil on canvas, $6,000)

"Mimetic Entropy" (2015, oil on canvas, $10,000); "To the End" (2015, oil on canvas, $6,000)

                                                           Lucid Obsessions

"A Desperate Anesthetic" (2015, oil on canvas, $4,500);"Tide of Loss" (2015, oil on canvas, $4,500);"Vacant Stares" (2015, oil on canvas, $4,500)

"Falling Through" (2015, oil on canvas, $6,000); "Lucid Obsessions" (2015, oil on canvas, $6,000)

Enjoy!
