I spotted their many awesome paintings and I display here my personal favorites, a very subjective selection as usual. The group above is admiring Fernand Léger‘s "Contrastes de formes" (1913) which sold at Christie`s for $70 million (artnet).
I am a fan of René Magritte`s surrealistic worlds. Above you can see his "Le Banquett" which was sold at Sotheby`s for $13,6 million.
I also love Pierre-Auguste Renoir`s elegant paintings. Above his "Madmoiselle Henriott Ou Jeune Fill Au Ruban Bleu". Jean Dufy`s "Femme assise au chat blanc" is an eye catcher as well.
Jean Hélion`s "Fille Aux Cheveux Rouges" seemed to live in a different world.
But she had company, including Pablo Picasso`s "Le Repos (Marie-Thérèse)" ; Salvador Dali`s "Spectre Du Soir Sur La Plage" & Georgio de Chirico´s "Oreste E Pilade".
Aren`t they pretty? Jean-Pierre Cassigneul`s "Nu" & "Femme en Vert"
The same applies to Moise Kisling`s "Femme Nue Assise" & "Nu allongé sur un canapé bleu" and Tamara de Lempicka`s "La Dormeuse IV (Kizette).
Camille Bombois`"Deux enfants jouant dans la forét" has a funny composition, confronting the playful world of children with the sober sphere of the adults;
Bernard Bufffet` s "Douarenenz, les quais du grand port" looks very tidied up, as usual with his paintings;
Colin Campbell Cooper`s "The Wall Street Ferry Slip" shows a New York which is long gone and
Paul Delvaux`s "Le Tramway De Notre Enfance (Mémoires)" is also a travel into the past.
Above you can see Maurice de Vlaminck`s "Nature morte aux fruits" & Raoul Dufy`s "La flote a`Villefranche" - they look so power- and colorful.
Enjoy1
