(Drivebycuriosity) - I remember a time when everything was free on Internet. I could read newspapers, magazines, research statistics, financial research, movie reviews and much more. Everything was free. But not without costs, of course. I had to accept the ads which paid for the service.
But then people got the idea to block the ads and ad blockers became common. The providers lost their ad revenues ( at least lots of them). They had to replace the ad incomes and were forced to charge for their services. So they went behind pay walls.
Today almost nothing is free. Magazines, Newspapers, finance platforms like Seeking Alpha & Market Watch, statistics & chart providers like Statista & Longtermtrends, they all went behind a pay wall. Even blog portals like Substack are (at least partly) behind paywalls. Being a humble blogger, who still writes for free, I cannot afford to subscribe to hundreds of sources.
Ad blockers ruined a paradise. Dear people you can shove your ad blockers very deep where the sun doesn´t shine.
