Contemporary Art: Sumi Ink, Hair, Nails On Panel - Abstracts From Korea @ Causey Contemporary, New York

(Drivebycuriosity) - There is competition everywhere. Contemporary artists need to distinguish themselves against a growing number of competitors who are as good as them. Many painters are experimenting with new techniques and unusual materials to make a mark. You can find an example for this development @ Causey Contemporary in New York´s trendy Lower East Side (29 Orchard causeycontemporary).

The gallery has an exhibition with works by Hyunju Park called "Ethereal/Real". The Korean artist uses "Sumi ink, hair, nails on panel". Above you can see some of his paintings and details of them - a very subjective selection as usual.

The gallery also shows some more paintings which are a bit more traditional. Above you can see "Orange Blossoms" by Elise Freda (oil, encoustic, collage on panel) followed by Lisa Pressman´s "Point of Departure" (oil on panel).

Let the images speak for themselves. Enjoy.
