(Drivebycuriosity) - Contemporary art has so many faces. Every visit of an art gallery brings so many discoveries. So I enjoyed the current show @ Lesley Heller Workspace in New York´s Lower East Side (54 Orchard Street lesleyheller). The gallery displays new works by Tony Ingrisano.
From the press release (exhibitions): "Ingrisano’s practice draws inspiration from various infrastructure
systems, from man-made power grids to naturally occurring river
circuits. Each work
begins with a single mark, the starting point for what will become an
intricate and elaborate, yet extemporaneous configuration of networks
that entwine, unravel, and twist around each other, leading everywhere
and nowhere simultaneously. Layering ink, graphite, watercolor, and
collaged elements, Ingrisano creates cohesive, singular works from a
complex series of individual parts, often times cutting the work apart
and reconstructing it into an entirely new and dynamic composition".
I like the beauty of these networks and the interplay of colors and shapes. Here you can see my favorites from this show, as usual a very subjective selection.
Enjoy!
