Contemporary Art: Impressions From Art New York 2019

(Drivebycuriosity) - Contemporary art is full of surprises, often weird & kinky. Last weekend my wife and I visited the fair "Art New York" which took place on Pier 94 in Manhattan`s midtown (artnyfair). Fortunately we got free tickets and could avoid the prohibitive admission fee (driveby).

The fair amassed about 300 artists represented by 70 international galleries across 50 cities in 18 countries. I enjoyed the show very much but was overwhelmed by the deluge of quality. I display my favorites here, a very subjective selection as usual. I apologize to all the artists & galleries I could no mention here.

Above you can see 3 amazing ladies:  Kirsten Stingle´s “Whisper” (Ceramic and Mixed Media) followed by Shepard Fairey`s “Peace Guard 2” and an unidentified android beauty.

Above Eric Zener`s amazing "Out of turbulence"

Above "Talking of Michelangelo" and another image by Niels Corfitzen.

Above 2 works by Dominic Besner.

Weird Space Opera

Above Richard Nocera`s "Journey without distance". Looks like a scene out of a weird space opera.

William Acosta did these elaborated paintings.

I really like this oil rig.

2 scary ladies

Somethings dystopian.

Some sexy paintings by Eika Leonard. Apparently inspired by Tamara de Lempicka.

Above Patty Benvenuto`s “Informal 7” followed by 2 wonderful abstracts by Rodolfo Violo & another wonderful painting.

Pretty little figures by an unknown artist.

Above David Moreno`s  fabulous “Floating city blue 1" (2019, Steel, silver, blue painting)

Don`t mess with them.
