Art Market: Tidbits From Spring Auctions 2022 @ Sotheby`s New York


(Drivebycuriosity) - It´s auction season again. The global auction houses have their huge spring auctions in New York City. As usual my wife and I went their to see their huge galleries. We began with Christie´s & Phillips in Manhattan´s midtown (christie`s  Phillips). 

 



This post is about the auction galleries @ Sotheby`s (sothebys). They amassed a huge amount of art works and I can show here some tidbits. Above you can see paintings by the Rumanian painter Adrian Ghenie, whop belongs to my favorite artists: "Degenerate Art" & "The Trip."

Above 2 paintings by Wilhelm Sasnal: "Untitled" & "Driving Sleeping".




Above Tomas Sanchez with "Meditation" & "Contemplador De Cascada En La Noche". 

 

 





 

Above Christina Quarles`"Night fell upon us up on us"; Danielle Orchard`s "Blue Room" & Ambera Wellmann`s "This will be always be beneath us". 

 



 

Above 2 Germans, both belong to my favorites: Sigmar Polke with "Häuserfront" & Anselm Kiefer`s "Anselm Kiefer Das Malers Atelier - Der Rhein". 

 



 

 

Last but not least: Andy Warhol`s "Hammer And Sickel"; Cy Cavin`s "Untitled"; Harold Uncart`s "Untitled" & Kazo Shiraga`s "Ougi".
