(Drivebycuriosity) - We are back in Bangkok, after visiting Koh Samui & Chiang Mai. We stay in a different hotel in a different area: Sukhumvit Soi 1. That´s the first of many narrow alleys along one of Bangkok`s most busiest streets.
The area looks a bit like Time Square with plenty of skyscrapers and huge video walls. But our tiny hotel is ascent to a canal flanked with jungle like vegetation and slums. I don´t know any other place with such a variety.
Classy, western-style areas mix with enclaves where the less fortunate live. But Bangkok does not has these horrible tent towns for the homeless which a ubiquitous in Los Angeles and other US metropolises.
There a lots of opportunities for stylish photos.
Our hotel is an oasis in this mix - a mansion built in the 1940s, then at the board of the city, now in the center. The buildings are surrounded by intense & lush tropical gardens. A part of the pool is covered by a green dome and there is a thick decadent scent in the air. And there is also a canon ball tree. Priceless
