Photography: Roma Natale - Watching A Roman Parade

(Drivebycuriosity) - Last weekend Rome celebrated Roma Natale, her birthday and the glory days of rhe Roman empire. We went to Circus Massimo, the former Circus Maximus, where the emperors had entertained the masses, and followed a parade through the Colosseum.

The performers were costumed as Roman soldiers or women. There many groups which represent legions of the Roman army or their enemies. I enjoyed the use variety of shields, uniforms & weapons.

Above some eagle standards which represented a legion.

Sometimes shields were used to form a fortress.

The combination of the massive Colosseum with the "Roman`s" looked almost authentic

Ancient wars had apparently also female soldiers - at least some equality

Some of the centurios - the officers of the Roman armies - looked quite martial.

Their soldiers were impressive as well.

And Rome had also some flower girls and other beauties

I am not sure that Jesus made it to Rome - but there he was.

And the audience was part of the show - as usual

To be continued.
