Traveling: Bella Napoli - Impressions From Naples Italy

(Drivebycuriosity) - My Wife and I are back from Naples (Napoli) where we had stayed 5 nights. The train ride between Rome and the South Italian metropolis lasted just about an hour and cost only €10 per capita ($12) . The train reached a peak speed of 300 km/h (190 miles/h). Napoli is a very vibrant city and full of beauty.

Napoli is the home of the pizza, the Napolitans invented the popular dish. Above you can see a perfect version of the food. It is framed by a thick crust - with black burning spots from the wood oven -  like the walls around a crater of a volcano, maybe a reminiscence to the nearby volcano Vesuv which destroyed once Pompei. The bottom of the Pizza is very thin and gets easily soaked by the covering sauce, often a ragout made of minced meat & tomato sauce mixed with buffalo cheese. Usually you can chose a lot more covers like sausages, vegetables, octopus, fish and more. Very tasty. Often the restaurant have also a selection of pies, cakes & creamy tarts and other sweet (dolci)

My wife and I walked a lot there as usual. Hiking is the best way to explore a city. Fortunately the city has a subway which is fast & cheap but often awfully crowded, but being New Yorkers we are used to crammed subway rides.

Being a ambitious amateur photographer I found countless motifs for my iPhone 7plus.

Above more of the beautiful sights.

We lodged in Vomero, a vibrant neighborhood on top of a hill, from where we got great views ton the city and the gulf of Naples.

Often we walked down the many stairs down from Vomero to the center and enjoyed the views.

The city has a labyrinth of narrow streets, tight alleys & small places (piacas) which are often crowded and an sheer endless stream of motorcyclists, cars & little trucks is squeezing through them

Napoli´s architecture is a feast for the eyes.

Drying laundry in the sun seems to be a Napolitan sports.

We spotted a lot of street art & graffiti especially in the center close to the university.

And Napoli has lot of beautiful girls!

There are plenty of reasons to visit this city.

To be continued.
