Gallery Perrotin on Manhattan`s lower East Side has an exhibition with paintings by the Chinese Artist Chen Fei, a prominent figure in China`s post 1980 generation (perrotin). The gallery displays the paintings on 2 floors, an exhibition any ambitious museum of contemporary art would be proud of.
The ground floor depicts Fei`s figurative paintings. On top of this post you can see his "Painter and Family". According to the press release this painting is inspired by Velázquez’s Las Meninas (1656)
I like Fei`s surrealist humor and the funny disparity between the model here and her admirers.
