Science Fiction: Sleeps With Angels By Dave Hutchinson

(Drivebycuriosity) - I love science fiction. But I get often disappointed. Most of the so-called sci-fi books and movies tell just fantasy stories about wizards, dragons & princesses or post-apocalyptic horror stories. It became increasingly challenging to find real "science fiction", stories & novels which have science in it and are not pure fairy tales. So I am searching for hard science fiction which blends entertainment with sciences like physics, chemistry, biology, evolution and more.

I just finished reading an anthology with short stories by Dave Hutchinson: "Sleeps with Angels" (amazon). The whole compilation (six stories) is full of funny ideas, a kind of weird future-punk. My favorite is the story "The Incredible Exploding Man". The author bends quantum physics & the "Many Worlds Theory" into a hilarious plot.  Even Philip K. Dick would have been proud of such a story.

The rest is speculative fiction (less science), often surreal with supranormal aspects. My favorite here is "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi". Some archaeologists are digging in England´s earth for Roman artifacts where they make a fascinating discovery.

In the moment of writing the Kindle version costs just $3.99, a real bargain.
