Contemporary Art: Made In L.A. 2018 @ Hammer Museum L.A.

(Drivebycuriosity) - Los Angeles is a fascinating city. The metropolis has not only Hollywood and beaches, there also is a lot of art. The Hammer Museum in the Westwood district is worth a visit. They display interesting art and the admission is free. This week I saw there an exhibition with work by L.A. artists, called "Made in L.A. 2018" (through September 2, 2018 hammer ).

The press release explains "The exhibition’s 32 artists range in age from 29 to 97 and have contributed works that are deeply engaged with vital aspects of our contemporary culture.....hrough drawings, paintings, sculpture, textiles, performance, video, photography, and installations—many newly commissioned expressly for Made in L.A. 2018—these artists exemplify the diverse and creative landscape of Los Angeles today" (exhibitions).

I display here my favorites from the show, a very subjective selection as usual. Above this paragraph are some collages by John Houck.

Above you can see some wall paintings by Christina Quarles.

Above some images by Celeste Dupuy-Spencer.

Part of the fun was watching the other visitors

To be continued.
