(Drivebycuriosity) - Steel is an important material, used for
skyscrapers, bridges, cars and many other things. But steel can also be
used to create magnificent art works. I reported here already about the
power steelworks by Richard Senna (driveby ) and Beverly Pepper`s beautiful creations ( contemporary). During a recent visit @ Kasmin in Manhattan´s Chelsea district I spotted another incarnation of the versatile alloy. The art dealer showed works by Bernar Venet. The exhibition is called "Indeterminate Hypothesis" (through October 12, 2019 kasmin).
"The five abstract Indeterminate Lines consist of spiraling rolls of
steel that sit, balanced or stacked in novel compositions, on the
gallery floor", says the press release. Anyway, the sculptures seem pretty elegant to me.
