Photography: Churches Of Rome - Basilica Di Santa Croce In Gerusalleme

(Drivebycuriosity) - Rome is a treasure chamber full of art. Over many centuries the eternal city amassed amazing architecture, paintings & sculptures. The magnificent churches, which are spread all over the city, are part of this treasure. They are the testimony that the city has been the capital of  powerful religious leaders, the popes, for 2000 years.  I plan to visit any church I will pass during my visit of Rome.

Last Friday we visited the Basilica Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, close to our location @ Piazza Roma Re. The church is majestic building full of beauty, a fine example of Roman Baroque.

T

he basilica has an artsy altar as many of Rome`s churches.

The chapels  - which flank the nave (in German: Kirchschiff) - are wonderful as well.

The same with the manyfold paintings on the sidewalls.

I love the frescos on the ceilings.

The colorful windows are an optical pleasure as well.

To be continued
