Art Market: 20th Century & Contemporary Art @ Phillips Fall 2023

(Drivebycuriosity) -  It`s November again and the world`s largest auction houses have their annual huge fall auctions in Manhattan. This post focuses on 20th Century & Contemporary Art  @ Phillips on Park Avenue ( phillips)

Quality & Quantity of the displayed art works were overwhelming and admission was free. I display here just my favorites, a very subjective selection as usual.

The post starts with the huge abstract painting by my favorite living painter, Gerhard Richter`s "Abstraktes Bild (painted 1967), and some detail shots.

Above follows "I Have Proof" by Jeanette Mundt. Apparently something very bad happened there.

The next image is called "Quirk my mannerism" by Jadé FadoJjutimi. Both paintings are so powerful and would fit into a collection together with above Richters. But beyond my pay-grade.

                        Surreal Sex Scenes

There were more powerful images of course: Jo Messe`s "Shifting into Five" & Elizabeth Glaessner orgiastic "Bacchanal". Wow.

Above follow more surreal sex scenes: "Floored" by Christina Quarles & "Ritz" by Ambera Wellmann.

There was also some romance: "The dark-haired odalisque" by Jesse Mockrin followed by the betautiful "Maid" by Caroline Walker, who belongs to my favorite contemporary painters. James Rosenquist`s "Dog descending a Staircase" also caught my eyes.

                       Dreamy Landscapes

 Above some dreamy landscapes:

"Prima Primavera" by Salvo and another Richter which is again called: "Abstraktes Bild".

Above follow Titus Kaphar`s surreal "Mother with Child"; Genieve Figgis`funny "The Last Night" & Miriam Cahn`s spooky "Ohne Titel".

"Untitled" by Shara Hughes,"Untitled (The disasters of War 24)" by Gottfried Hellnwein & "Mendips" by Elizabeth Peyton.

The were even some "Economists" by Idelle Weber.

To be continued
