(Drivebycuriosity) - It`s November again and the world`s largest auction houses have their annual huge fall auctions in Manhattan. This post focuses on 21st Century Art @ Christie`s (christies )
Quality & Quantity of the displayed art works were overwhelming and admission was free. I display here just my favorites, a very subjective selection as usual.
This post starts with “The Fairy Gave Him the Sugar” by Mark Bradford followed by "Combustion" by Jia Aili. I like Aili`s painting so much that I dedicated an individual post to this work with detail shots (driveby ).
Camouflaged Orgies
I am also a fan of Cecily Brown`s camouflaged orgies. Above you can see her "Figures in a Garden" followed by Stefanie Heinze`s "Third Date". Something wild is going on there.
More hot female art: "Persephone" by Jenny Saville and "Regarding Me Regarding You" by Jenna Gribbon.
Now something to chill you down: "Untitled (Bacchus 1st Version Il)" by Cy Twombly, the master of doodles.
Nice 'n Easy
Are you into steel? Maybe you like Jeff Koons`"Aphrodite" (mirror-polished stainless steel with transparent color coating).
The naked ladies above seem to be much entertained. John Currin called his work "Nice 'n Easy", followed by Ilana Savdie`s "A High-pitched Complicity".
Last but not least: Sany Kantarowsky`s "Charnal Field". No idea what`s going on here.
To be continued
