(Drivebycuriosity) - Romanticism is still alive. At my recent visit of Manhattan`s art district Chelsea I discovered an exhibition with new works by Matvey Levenstein @ Kasmin (kasmingallery). The press release explains: "Levenstein’s work depicts scenes from his life on the North Fork of Long Island and explores themes of history and representation. The paintings speak to the relevance of Romanticism in the 21st Century, and act as quiet meditations on the immigrant experience filtered through the most traditional painterly genres: the landscape, the still life and the portrait".
Above a very similar painting. But there a differences, which you can see in the detail shots, like the white blossoms on the right of the glass in the second painting.
