Science Fiction: Shall Machines Divide The Earth By Benjanun Sriduangkaew

(Drivebycuriosity) -  Science Fiction has many voices. Benjanun Sriduangkaew, a young author from South Thailand, writes elegant & elaborated novellas and stories.  I just finished her novella "Shall Machines divide the Earth", the third book of her Machine Mandate series  ( amazon).

I read Sriduangkaew`s because of her unique neo-baroque style. A hotel lobby for instance is described with "fractal steel and burnt glass. Austere furniture flows across the enormous floor like a tode of industrial angles, robes in privacy sphere. Whorls of captive light wheel overhead in sedate pavanes, a dreaming cosmos"

The series happens in a bizarre universe, a byzantine cosmos dominated by female humans, cyborgs & AIs.  This universe is full of violence, sabotage and treason and tumultuous events are happening. "Shall Machines divide" is set on a remote planet where extreme violence is permitted and common. The outlandish system attracts visitors who try their luck with eccentric duels, which are described with relish. Sriduangkaew spices her story with bizarre sex scenes between an AI with a human body and a female human - a rarity in the usual timid scifi literature.
