Photography: Bangkok - Meet The Reclining Buddha

(Drivebycuriosity) -  Visiting Bangkok without exploring the ubiquituous Buddhist temples, called Wat, is like visiting Rome and ignoring the Saint Peter Basilica. The Temple of the Reclining Buddha, known as Wat Pho (oficially Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan) belongs to the most import sacred places in Thailand.

There are the typical fancyful spires (called prang ) & roof ornaments ( chofa).

Every construction is wonderfully embellished.

And there are of course the usual stone guardians and other sculptures.

The name giving "Reclining Buddha" has a length of 46m (150 feet).

To be continued
