Photography: A Walk In Hyde Park London

(Drivebycuriosity) - My wife and I are still epxloring London. Yesterday we walked from the Marble Arch area, where we had stayed in the recent days, towards Nottinghill, our next location. We took the route to Hyde Park, a vast piece of nature in the heart of the metropolis.

The park was established by Henry VIII in 1536 when he took the land from Westminster Abbey and used it as a hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and quickly became popular, particularly for May Day parades. Major improvements occurred in the early 18th century under the direction of Queen Caroline (wikipedia).

We passed areas which looked like untouched nature and reminded of the original English countryside.

Other parts were beautifully designed.

In the west we arrived in the "Italian Garden" which belongs to the Kensington Gardens. This part was commissioned by Prince Albert to honor his wife Queen Victoria.

To be continued
