Traveling: Visiting Guildhall London

(Drivebycuriosity) - My wife and I are still exploring London. Yesterday we visited the Guildhall (wikipedia ). This is a medieval multi-purpose complex which is still in use. There is a Roman amphitheatre in the basement topped by an art gallery with funny selection. Being an ambitious amateur photographer I took some pictures which i display here.

The art gallery stretches over 3 floors filled with paintings & sculptures. On top of this post you can see "Charles, Prince of Wales" from 1969 (bronce), created by David Wynne.

Above "The Execution of Lady Jane Grey" by Paul Delaroche (about 1834).

Above George Henry Manville Grenton`s "The wife of jeroboam andthe Blind Prophet" (1888)   followed by John Collier`s "Clydemnestra" (1882) & Lawrence Alma Tadema`s "The Pleading" ( 1876).

Above the wall-filling "Defeat of the Floating Batteries at Gibraltar" by John Singleton Copley (1783-91)

Above "The Stock Exchange, London" by Rodrick Jordan (about 1966) & "Walk" by Oliver Bevan (1995).

This is "Clytie" by George Frederick Watts (1878 ).

Above you can see parts of the wonderful architecture

and  the hall`s coat of arms

To be continued
